How does the substance affect its pH level?!

! Materials: 1-12 liquid substances, cups, tub, yellow strips, iPad, pH chart.! !

Lab Procedure: items stay in tub. Test one liquid at a time. Negotiate pH number. Everyone records in their iPad. Negotiate combination of 2 liquids for tests A,B,C ( label cup with liquid names ) record pH for test A,B,C.!

I claim that the pH level only affected a few substances.!

Evidence: I learned that when we tested it only few of the tests had a different pH level than the rest. Most of the substances had a pH level of 4 they were power aid, rock star, tea, mt dew, Pepsi, coke, coffee, and test A that was Mnt dew and coke mixed. Also, none of substances matched the pH level of 2, 7, 9, and 10. The mode of all the substances is the pH level of four. We noticed that all the substances that had a pH level of four had either caffeine or sugar. When we mixed real lemon and baking soda with h2o together it zzed up. I think that if I mixed a different substance with my saliva it would either go up or down on the pH chart according to the substance it was mixed with. In test A, Mnt. Dew and coke both have high fructose corn syrup and caffeine. In test B, lemon juice and baking soda with h2o both have sodium. In test C, Pepsi and no iodine salt both have sodium. None of the substances have protein. With the baking soda with h2o it turned from orange to blue really fast. When coca cola went up my nose it stung.
