Citation Guide How to insert a footnote using MS Word: 1.

All footnotes should be inserted at the end of the sentence, even if the actual quoted or paraphrased material is in the beginning of the sentence. 2. Click on the Insert tab and select Footnote. 3. Make sure Footnote and AutoNumber are selected in the pop-up window. 4. Select OK 5. A superscript number will automatically appear at end of sentence and at the bottom of the page. 6. At the bottom of the page, type in the necessary information for the note.
