The Christmas truce was a series of widespread, unofficial ceasefires that took place along the Western Front

around Christmas 1914, during World War I. Parties of German and British soldiers began to exchange seasonal greetings and songs between their trenches, and individuals would walk across to talk to their opposite numbers. On Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, many soldiers from both sides mingled, exchanging food and souvenirs, and several meetings ended in carol-singing. That is an extraordinary example of how to celebrate the birth of Jesus, the Prince of Peace. Let us follow their example and make this Christmas a truce, that fills our minds and hearts with peace, covering all our family, social and work relationships. Jesus, the Prince of Peace, is the center and King this Christmas. May His Peace cover all of us, our countries and the world. Amen. Merry Christmas.
