Frequently Asked Questions

1. Q: How much time in service do I need after the completion of school

in order to attend?

A: IAW AR 614-200 you must have 6 months time in service remaining

upon completion of BNCOC/ANCOC in order to attend. There is no
service obligation for WLC.

2. Q: I come from a unit that does not issue TA-50. Will I be issued TA-50
when I arrive for school?

A: IAW the NCO Academy Student Guides, if your unit or assignment

does not have TA-50 you must get a memorandum from your
commander requesting that the equipment needed be issued to you.
During the cycle, those students without the proper equipment will be
issued the required TA-50.

3. Q: If I am from another duty station do I have to reside in the billets

while attending school?

A: WLC – All students are required to stay in the billets for the
duration of the course.

BNCOC – All Soldiers attending BNCOC not stationed on Fort

Bliss will be issued a room key upon their arrival. Soldier’s are not
required to stay in the billets. Any other lodging arrangements will
be made at the Soldier’s own expense.

ANCOC – Soldiers attending ANCOC from another duty station

will reside at the Fort Bliss Inn IAW with their TDY orders.

4. Q: Can I wear ankle socks while attending school?

A: Ankle socks are allowed IAW AR 670-1 and must cover the entire
ankle.

5. Q: Where do I report and in what uniform?

A: WLC -- Students will report in seasonal PT uniform to Bldg 1006.

BNCOC – Students will report in seasonal PT uniform to Bldg 1004.

 ANCOC – Students will report in seasonal PT uniform to Bldg 2E,
Room 185.

All students are required to have the necessary paperwork when in

processing.

6. Q: Is transportation provided? (ANCOC only)

A: IAW with the ANCOC Student Guide, transportation is not

provided by the NCO Academy, but POV’s are authorized to be used
by students. Rental cars must be approved by the student’s unit and
chain of command. They will not be authorized from the NCO
Academy.

7. Q: Do I need to make reservations at the Fort Bliss Inn for my stay

while attending school? (ANCOC only)

A: IAW the ANCOC Student Guide, you can call the Inn to make
arrangements. But, if you are not able to, we will have a set number of
rooms set aside for those Soldiers not assigned to Fort Bliss.
