Rome on Trial

The Greek People vs. the Roman People

Theft! The Greeks cry theft! The Romans stole all their mythological ideas, and a civil lawsuit is about to ensue. The Greek people have charged the Romans with copyright infringement and idea theft. The Romans balk at this, saying that they have committed no crime. For this mock trial, half of the class will represent the Greeks as the prosecution, and seek a guilty verdict for the Romans. Meanwhile, the other half of the class will be the Romans and work together to defend themselves from the Greek accusations. It is up to your groups to figure out how you will go about either proving guilt or innocence and what evidence you will use to achieve your goal. The judges (Mr. Oswalt and Mr. Burgard) will decree guilt or innocence by the trials end. What will the verdict be?
