THE MOLES AND THE NUMBER OF PARTICLES Mole: unit to represent the amount of substances In daily life, we use

the unit dozen represent 12 objects 1 dozen = 12 2 dozen = 24

In chemistry, we use the unit mole to represent the amount of substances containing 6.02 x 1023 particles Definition: One mole: The amount of substances that contains as many as the number of atoms exactly 12g of carbon-12, which are 6.02 x 1023 particles. The number of particles per mole (6.02 x 1023 particles per mol) is determined experimentally. Known as Avogadro constant or number (NA) NA: the number of particles in one mole of substances (substances can be: atoms, molecules or ions)

Number of particles in any number of moles of substances can be calculated, vice versa.
