Revision Techniques

VISUAL Turn notes into bullet points. Highlight key words. Keep shortening them until you have one word which will trigger your memory for each point. Make diagrams (e.g. flow charts) Use websites e.g. BBC bitesize. Learning posters use patterns, colour and drawings. Pin them up where youll see them often.

Pupils in pairs, with one piece of text that needs to be learn or revised one pencil and one piece of blank paper. Pupils set themselves up where they are back to back, or where only one of them can see the text. Pupil with the text reads the text out a sentence at a time. Pupil with the paper and pencil to draw what is being read out using any kind of pictures or images that they can understand- no words of any kind are allowed. Pupils come together but cover or hide the text. Pupil who has been drawing uses the images to translate them to other pupil. Repeat above with pupils role reversed. Both pupils now translate their drawings back to words and write them down. Keep both drawings and what they have written for future revision.

Make up questions and get somebody to test you. Put aside the ones you dont know and keep working on them until you learn them all. Record notes and put them on an MP3 player.
