FAMILY LAW ISSUES


Course Description
Part 1: Everything you need to know about Family Law in Missouri but were afraid to ask. Part 2: Help! Ive been subpoenaed to testify in a custody case! Part 1 of the training will cover aspects of family law in Missouri including divorce, paternity, custody, child support, orders of protection and guardianship of minors. We will also briefly discuss abuse and neglect cases in the juvenile court. Part 2 will describe how to handle subpoenas, summons and arrest warrants when they are received, especially those in custody disputes. This training benefits all staff working with families or dealing with subpoenas.

Presenters:
Marie Kenyon serves as the Managing Attorney for Catholic Legal Assistance Ministry (CLAM), where she has worked for the past 26 years. Marie was a volunteer for the Peace Corps from 1981 to 1983. She earned her J.D. degree from the St. Louis University School of Law in 1986. Marie served as President for the St. Louis Bar foundation and the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, and was a member of the Missouri Catholic Conference from 1991-1994. She is currently a member of the Board of Governors for the Missouri Bar and a member of the Board of Directors for Access Academies, Penultimate Press, and Prison Performing Arts. Thomas M. Buckley has served as the General Counsel for the Archdiocese of St. Louis for 1 years. Prior to that, he was in private practice where he defended the Archdiocese, its parishes, schools and agencies in civil lawsuits. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the National Catholic Education Association. Mr. Buckley is licensed to practice law in Missouri and Illinois.
