Part A: A vapour compression cooling system that uses refrigerant R-134a as the working fluid is used to produce chilled

water for industrial use (see the figure below). The system is designed to produce 10 kg/s of cold water at a temperature of 4C. The maximum expected temperature of water before cooling can reach 30C. On the condenser side, a blower is installed to enhance the heat rejection. The blower can force an air flow of 2.5 m3/s from the atmosphere. The atmospheric condition is 100 kPa and 35C. The refrigerant leaves the evaporator as saturated vapour at 120 kPa and then enters the compressor that elevates the pressure to 1200 kPa. The refrigerant exits the condenser as saturated liquid. Assuming perfect compression of the refrigerant in the compressor and neglecting any pressure drop in the condenser and the evaporator, determine: (a) the quality of the refrigerant when it exits the throttling element, (b) the mass flow rate of the refrigerant, (c) the input power to the compressor, (d) the rate of heat absorbed from the water through the evaporator, (e) the rate of heat rejected to the atmosphere through the condenser, (f) the temperature rise of the air that cools the condenser, (g) the COPR, (h) the maximum COPR of the system based on the given temperatures of the two thermal reservoirs. Also, show the cycle on a T-s diagram with respect to saturation lines.
