Term 4 Week 8 - Monday 2 December 2013

Reports Home 5 December Class Placements 5 December Final Assembly 6 December LAST DAY 2013 Thursday 12 December

Well we have nearly come to the end of yet another year together here at EPS. Our year has been jam packed and many would ask, where has the year gone. At this time we look back and celebrate the many successes of our students. They continue to amaze us in every way. We are immensely proud of their achievements however big or small and whether it be cultural, sports or academic. Every step forward counts. With the final assembly being held a week earlier, I am worried that it signals the end of the school year, when there are another four days of school next week. With the Education Review Office visiting as well, they will get the wrong message about our school if only half the students are attending. Please help by keeping your children at school throughout our final week of school. The proverb It takes a whole village to raise a child is very true. We have many educators out there, you included that need thanking for all your hard work and commitment we have received throughout the year. Parent/caregiver support is what helps to make a school tick and we are grateful to those who came along to support classes, trips and camps. We look forward to your continued support in 2014.
Nga mihi ki a koutou mo kirihimete me te tau hou. Have a safe and happy holiday break.

CLASS PLACEMENTS 2014 The placement of your child is always done with careful consideration, with much care and discussion going into who they are placed with for the forthcoming year. At present these are still being finalised. This Thursday 5 December 2013, all students will visit classes to meet and greet with their new teacher and class for 2014. This gives and opportunity for students and teachers to meet and share prior to the new year and to help with the first day jitters

SAFER COMMUNITIES HERE AT EPS
Keeping safe while out and about especially for our children is a priority. Even more so as we are moving into the holiday season, with many families travelling around. Below are a few snaps catching some of our students keeping themselves safe in the car, on a bike and travelling in a bus. A reminder about the new Child Safety Restraint Laws that came in on November 1 and for our kids and a further I Care message and reminder when riding on your bike - a helmet is a must for looking after your head and brain.

EBOP HORIZON ATHLETICS This athletic meet was held on Saturday 30 December for the first time, with the assistance of Sport BOP and the Whakatane Athletic Club. A grand total of 22 of our students joined the strong Rangitaiki Team to represent at this event. The bright green shirts shone out across the day, with many of our EPS students gaining places. Once again many of our students demonstrated high levels of athletic skill and talent and were a pleasure to watch. Most definitely some future athletics Olympians in the making if they so choose. Many thanks to all our EPS families that went along to support on this day.

While all have been fun, enjoyable with much learning been supported, it has also been a time to visit new places and spaces and experience new things. We are forever thankful for our EPS family members who give up their time to assist on such trips and camps. Here are some snaps from Room 4 - Waitomo Camp, the Junior BIG Day Out to Te Puke and Room 6 - Te Urewera Camp.
