MATCH DATES FOR 2013: (Third Saturdays of each month, except NOT October) Jan. 19, Feb. 16, Mar. 16, Ap. 20, May 18, June 15, July 20, Aug. 17, Sept. 21, Nov. 16, and Dec. 21, 2013 TIME: Gates open at 8:15 AM for set up, registration and practice. Registration ends at 9:15 AM and the Standard Rifle match begins at 9:30 AM. Hunter and Cowboy Rifle matches to follow. Cowboy Rifle match set up and practice is not expected to start before 12:00 noon or later. SPONSORING ORGANIZATION: South Mississippi Gun Association. COMPETITION OPEN TO: All NRA members and others who are interested. RULES: Current NRA rules and posted range safety rules will be followed. SAFETY EQUIPMENT: Both eye (safety glasses) and hearing protection are required for all participants and spectators by the range safety rules, which must be followed. CLASSIFICATION OF COMPETITORS: Current NRA classifications will be used for all competitors. REGISTRATION FEE: $5.00 per shooter. Cowboy only, $2.00. Competitors under 19 years old are free. MATCH COURSE: For standard rifle and hunter rifle, each a 40 shot match consisting of 10 shots at each bank of NRA one-fifth size metallic silhouette animal targets: chickens at 40 meters, pigs at 60 meters, turkeys at 77 meters, and rams at 100 meters. For cowboy rifle (iron sights, tube-fed, and lever, pump, or semi-auto actions), the same type of match, except at NRA one-half size targets, and pigs at same 60 meters, not 50! ENTRIES: No pre-entries. Entries will be taken on day of match only. GENERAL INFORMATION: There is a roof cover and plenty of shade at the range, but only limited seating, so you may want to bring a chair and some drinking water. A portable toilet is provided. DIRECTIONS TO THE RANGE: from Interstate 10, take Exit 2 (Hwy. 607, NASA Stennis Exit). Go South on Hwy. 607 for 8/10ths of a mile. Just past the first set of metal highway guard rails, turn left across the median and go through the gate for 1/10th mile to the power line right-of-way clearing. Park in the R-O-W to the right, by the third covered firing line.
