INTRODUCTION

Logical Reasoning is a challenging section of competitive exams. LR questions usually come with information paragraph followed by set of question. You have to read it and use your logic to answer the questions. The main idea behind LR is to use the information and you must use an if-then approach. Its important that you read the whole problem, and choose the best hint or clue before starting to solve the problem. When practicing logic with reasoning making a chart or drawing a picture are good strategies. Before starting any LR problem it is advised to keep few points in mind. 1. Study the given data carefully. A brief explanation of why each choice is correct or incorrect follows each practice question. If you understand this reasoning for the practice items, you will do well on the actual assessment. Do not assume or use any information that the question fails to give you. Read carefully the options & be sure before choosing one. Be alert on words like all, some, or none. Other than, only or unless are important, too. These words can play a critical part in precisely specifying the facts to be used in your reasoning.

2. 3.

It is important to develop your own ways of representing the data. This presentation skill will be developed only by thorough practice of different variations of problems. For example, let us try to represent the condition if A and B are in the team then C cannot be there in the team . You may represent this as A and B = x C. This is a one way condition. There can be different ways of representing the same data. It is important to understand & remember the conditions & its usage. The intuitive thinking helps the student to solve the answers faster & smarter than others. But this comes only by practice not in terms of time but in terms of maximum problem solving. LR questions may be in a set, if the data is not interpreted well, not only 1 but couple of inter- related questions of the same set may go wrong. Hence, read and understand the common data and questions thoroughly.
