iSearch Proposal Date of Proposal: November 19, 2013 Name: Nicholas Brown Mailing Address: 4500 Pleasure Ave., Virginia Beach, VA 23455 Home Telephone Number: (757)-363-8459 Email Address: Nick@Browntopia.com Topic: Quantum Physics Misconceptions Why is this topic relevant (personal, local, global, professional)? Quantum physics is a personal interest of mine and I hope to make it my field of profession. I am interested in partial physics because is a basis for explain why things happen. Discovering the way the universe works lays the basis for most of all future research and discoveries in physics. Physicists such as Albert Einstein and Isaac Newton are so well known because they did just that, they discovered some of the basic principles on which the universe works. Their discoveries changed how physicists thought and thus affected their future actions and discoveries. What will you are learning during the course of your research (what are your inquiry questions under your umbrella question)? What are some of the truths behind the misconceptions (and lies told for simplicity sake) about quantum physics and particle physics. 1. What are some common misconceptions about quantum physics? 2. What is the truth about these misconceptions? 3. Where do these misconceptions come from? Which qualified professional(s) will you be interviewing as you are researching this topic? Name (Mr/Ms/Dr First and Last): Connor Headden Email Address: connorheadden@yahoo.com What will be the focus for your interview? What information do you hope to learn? The purpose of the interview will be to find out what quantum physics misconceptions are common among those who have not had any professional experience in the field. I want to prepare myself for moving into this field so that I do not have as big of a Everything I know is wrong! moment. I feel that someone who has just made the shift into this field might be a good source for this information. How will you obtain the information you need? Through internet research, interviewing, textbooks, online papers, and possibly online discussions with an online community. How will you discipline yourself to do the work? (time management, etc.) As the project progresses, I will make my action plan more detailed so that I can set up a check list for each week and at the end of each week I will assess myself to make sure I am on track.
