HOW CAN ONE BE INFECTED WITH HIV?

*HIV only lives inside the human body or host. It can be found in the body fluids like blood, saliva, semen, breast milk, tears, and vaginal secretions. Among these fluids only saliva and tears does not carry enough quantity of HIV to cause infection. 1.) During unprotected penetrate sexual intercourse with an infected individual. Either by oral,vaginal and anal unsafe sexual intercourse. In male homosexuals, anal intercourse and/or manipulation creates trauma to the rectal wall and subsequently increases chances of exposure to the virus through body secretions. Sharing contaminated needles and syringes among intravenous drug users. It will result into transfusion of blood from HIV infected donor to the recipients. Organ transplantation from an infected organ donor to uninfected organ recipient may also possible for the spread of the virus. 3.) Accidental prick of HIV contaminated needles during washing and sterilization by the health practitioners. It is advisable to used the disposable needles and syringes. 4.) Utero-transmission from infected pregnant mother to her fetus/baby. The infected breast feeding has been suggested but not clearly documented.
