The Monster
The monster was created by Victor using old body parts and strange

chemicals. He has the strength of a giant but with a mind of an infant, and a

kindness-heart yet his physical defect covered it. Which makes people fear

him and mistreat him, just like Victor did, leading him to leave the monster. I

dont consider the monster as a cold blood murderer, when hes saw his face,

he realized why society didnt accept him, so he seeks for a company, and

thats what normal people would do. If people are lonely, they look around for

companionship, and it shown that the monster do have humanity in some way.

In the end when the monster saw his creator died, he burst into tears. At first I

thought they were enemies and tried to kill each other. The reason of that is

because Victor was the person with whom it had any sort of relationship. He

talked to it and acknowledged its existence. And when victor died, he didnt

have anything to live for therefore killing himself. I really sympathize with the

monster because deep inside its nice and compassionate and it saved a little

girl from drowning despite the fact that everyone hated it.

Robert Walton

Walton functions as a way which the readers hears the story of Victor and the

monster from the letters he wrote to his sister. And his role parallels Victors

role in many ways. For example, theyre both explorers, looking for unknown

knowledge and places and making discovery. When the ship got stuck in the

ice, he was torn between his venture and the crews safety, just like Victor and

the monster. Walton described himself lonely and couldnt fit into the society,

and desired for a true friend, like the way the monster felt.

After hearing Victors story, he learned that the consequences of a man

pushing the boundaries of the exploration, he turned the ship back like the

crew asked. Because he didnt want to make the same mistake the Victor did

in obsession which later ruined his life.
