v=nlcIKh6sBtc, or recording of Lordes Royals c) Instruments d) Whiteboard e) Index cards 3) Objectives a) Learners will understand the steps to arranging a song and the idea of musical quotation in an original composition. b) Learners will encounter form structure, active listening, stylistic differences, and creating 4) Procedure a) Class will begin with having the students listen to Lordes Royals as they walk in and get settled (5min) b) Students will split into their groups and be asked to review together the parts of the song. Students will write each part on an index card. (5min) c) Students will then create their own visual arrangement of Royals by organizing the index cards however theyd like. Then they will reproduce that arrangement with their instruments. (20 min) d) Students will share their arrangements with each other. Students will be asked to comment on their peers performance, in writing. They will address the following performance questions: (10 min) i) How did they choose to arrange their piece? ii) What element stood out in their arrangement? Could this become a musical quotation? iii) What did you most appreciate about their arrangement? 1) Closure (5min) a) Each group will decide on their musical quotation that they will incorporate into an original composition to be completed in the next class.
