“The Count of Monte Cristo”

My Favorite Line

“God will give me justice.”

These words are the ones carved in Chateau D’If, the place where Edmond Dantes was
exiled. Back then, he was illiterate, he doesn’t even know what it means but he just kept
on carving it with a sharp stone. Thanks to an old man there who taught him every thing
he has to know.

Justice was served anyways, to both sides. His best friend who betrayed him and
Monsieur Beaufort got what they deserve. Edmond gained a treasure and more than that,
he got his fiancé back after 16 years, with their son.

At the end, Edmond realized that revenge is empty and promised to use all that he has for
the good. I also like what he said in the end: “I bought this island thinking someday I will
tear it down, but I found myself walking out of here with the people that matters most to
me...”▄
