The Berlin Wall.

The Berlin Wall is a wall dividing Berlin into the communists and the free people. From 1961 to 1989, for Germany, it was 28 years of fear. In East Germany, there are two Berlins, west, and east, parted by the wall. The Wall was built in 1961 and came down in 1989; it was to keep the communist people on the east side so they could not escape. I have been studying Germany in my Global Studies class and saw a black and white photo of the Berlin Wall. The wall was somewhat new because people can still see over it with just standing normally. The first layer of the wall were a large rectangle of cement. The second and third, were made of bricks and the last one is cement. And right in the middle of everything and on top were the small Y sticks (like 10 or 15) that hold the barbed wire up. Next to that, in front of the wall on the right, there is a pipe connecting the wall to a smokestack with graffiti of a big, white flower with no steam, being held by a large hand. On the pipe, there are two young people standing on it; a woman and the other a man and are wearing coats and nice clothes with nice shoes. They looked confused and sad at the same time, and by the way it looks, I think that they are on the west side. Behind them in the right corner, there is a building. The windows are not bricked, but there are only two windows, but very high, so they could not use them to escape to the west side. With all of this in mind, I think that the wall was a big mistake and should never have been made, and the photo that I saw is very sad looking to me.
