First Conditional

Conditional Types
The first conditional sentences are used to speculate about possible situations that can really happen in the present or in the future. We do not use will in if clauses to describe future activities. This conditional sentence deals with situations in the present or future.

Conditional Types
Examples:

If Bill exercises, he will have a better life. / Bill will have a better life if he exercises.
If it doesn't rain, we will go to the beach. / We will go to the beach if it doesn't rain. If you don't get the ticket, what will you do? / What will you do if you dont get the ticket?

Conditional Types
Note: You can use some modal verbs instead of will to change the probability or express an opinion. Examples: If it doesn't rain, we should go to the beach (had better.) If it doesn't rain, we can go to the beach (be able to.) If it doesn't rain, we may go to the beach.

If I feel sick tomorrow, I will not go to school.

If it rains, the match will be cancelled.

First Conditionals
Use :

To speak about possible or probable future


events.
If the weather is as sunny tomorrow as it was today, we will go surfing.
To

make promises or warnings

If you forget my birthday, Ill never speak to you again.

Unless is used in negative conditionals


Unless we recycle more, we wont have a better world.
