Objectives
Students will be able to name and define different tempi Students will be able to differentiate multiple pitches Students will be able to discuss the orbits of planets Students will be able to correlate planet orbits with specific tempo markings

Solar Beats
Website http://www.whitevinyldesign.com/solarbeat/ Each Planet has a different orbit speed (tempo)
Mercury is very fast-vivace Pluto is very slow-grave Earth is somewhat fast-allegro

Activity
Students get numbered 1-8 (representing the planets) Line up against the far wall of the class room I use a metronome and ask them to march with the beat At the far end of the wall I ask them what tempo they think they were marching at (very fast, very slow, moderate etc.)
