Key Ideas
1. Before the Industrial Revolution, cities in England
were small, based around agriculture, and
revolved around lifestyles dictated by farming: Up
with the sun, men did one kind of work, while
women did other types of work.
2. As the Industrial Revolution grew, cities became
larger, and the social patterns of the agrarian
villages changed.
