Food Scientist or Food Technologist 2. Must have a decent GPA (at least a 2.0) and have taken classes in chemistry, mathematics, physics, biology, microbiology, etc.; for a B.S. degree, a minimum of 128 credits is required, including collegiate courses in fields such as chemistry, food microbiology, nutrition, food engineering, and product development; some students continue into dental, medical, and even law school with their background in food science 3. Vary according to food science specialization; jobs available in quality assurance (monitoring food production and analyzing food to determine amount of nutrients, sugars, etc.), in research (discovering and experimenting with different food storage methods or food additives), or in development (focusing on making and improving existing food products) 4. This career does not necessarily relate to what we are studying because the job requirements are more along the lines of food production and monitoring. I think it would be interesting to work in this field, especially determining the amount of different nutrients, sugars, and vitamins in particular foods. Even though I do not see myself working in this industry, I do think that it would be a fascinating job because of the experiments some scientists or technologists conduct on different food products.
