Poetry Notes - Spell check your writing (No Excuses List) - Read the finished poem at least once

over (out loud for coherence) - Poems do not have to follow traditional grammar rules (e.g. listings, scattered thought, a conversation, rants, etc) - Think visually (can the reader see this happening as they read?) - Use fun words, in a non-traditional sense (dollop of affection, freckled with stars) - Write about what you know (What grinds your gears? What do you care about? What dont you care about? What just happened?) Format Notes: - Do not center your poem - You do not need a title (unless you want one) - Do not capitalize each line, unless it is the start of a sentence (duh) - Each line should be able to stand alone (would this be profound on its own?)
