I believe the Confucius ideas were revolutionary for his time because he was able to emphasize ideas and

introduce some concepts that would not have been thought of at that time, and were not accepted. However, even today his ideas are highly treasured and Chinese society is extremely reflective of his ideas, which just goes to show how ahead of his time Confucius really was. He introduced the idea of the importance of the family and respect for ones elders, as well as basic moral principle: uprightness, kindness, wisdom and faithfulness. He was the first to state that these ideals were important for a successful government. Furthermore, his idea of pursuing the moral course rather than what personal desires, could be somewhat of a precursor to chivalry. Also, the time he was alive was known as the warring states period. There was a lot of conflict between feudal states for power. His ideas were on relieving this stress, and to create a successful government. This clearly would not have been accepted during this time, since every states number one priority was to gain complete control. To give an idea of how ahead of his time and revolutionary his ideals were, his ideals were not accepted until over 200 years after his death, during Han Dynasty in China.
