Design 7295 Mans Sweater with Jacquard pattern

Size: to fit chest 92/97 cm [36/38], 102/107 cm [40/42] and 112/117 cm [44/46].Directions for the smaller size are before the parentheses, with larger sizes inside. If there is only one figure, it applies to all sizes. Materials: Schachenmayr/SMC Juvel, 200 (250/250)g #00575 olive, 150 (200/200)g #00980 mocca, 150g each #00089 ecru and #00641 honey, 100 (100/150)g #00245 jeans and #00740 burgundy, 100 g #00500 mottled bark. Milward 3-3.75mm and 4-4.5mm needles, and one 3-3.75mm circular needle 40cm long. Rib pattern: alt K2, P2. Jacquard pattern: work in st-st (= knit RS rows, purl WS rows) foll Chart. All rows are given, 1 square = 1 st. Read RS rows from right to left, and WS rows from left to right. On the bi-col rows work the edge sts with both cols. For each stripe work rows 1-17 once. For Stripes 1-5 work cols as described, then start again with Stripe 1. Tension: with 4-4.5 mm needles and Jacquard Patt: 22 sts and 22-23 rows, each to 10 cm. METHOD Back: with 3-3.75 mm needles and jeans cast on 114 (122/130) sts and work in Rib Patt 7 rows jeans, 20 rows olive and 6 rows burgundy = 10 cm in height, inc 3(5/7) sts evenly across last WS row (= make 1 purl - ways tbl) = 117(127/137) sts. With 3.75-4 mm needles and Jacquard Patt cont as foll: edge st, sts 6-10 of motif, motif of 10 sts 11 (12/13) times, edge st. When work measures 65 (67/67) cm cast off 27 (27/29) sts at centre for neck and finish each side sep. At neck edge cast off on every 2nd row 3 sts once, and 2 sts once. When work measures 68 (70/70) cm cast off rem 40 (45/49) sts on either side for shoulders. Front: proceed as for back except for neck and Jacquard Patt. For Jacquard Patt work edge st, then motif of 10 sts 11 (12/13) times, end with sts 1-5 of motif, edge st. When work measures 61 (63/63) cm cast off 23 (23/25) sts at centre for neck, and finish each side sep. At neck edge cast off on every 2nd row 2 st 2 times and 1 st 3 times. When work measures 68 (70/70)cm cast off rem 40 (45/49) sts on either side for shoulders. Sleeves (both alike) with 3-3.75mm needles and jeans cast on 50 sts and work in Rib Patt 7 rows jeans, 14 rows olive and 6 rows burgundy = 8cm in height, make 1 purlways tbl beside the edge st on either side on last WS row = 52 sts. With 3.75-4 mm needles and Jacquard Patt cont as foll: edge st, motif of 10 sts 5 times, edge st. At the same time inc at each end for sleeve shaping 1 st on every 4th row 23 (19/17) times and 1 st on every 2nd row 3 (11/15) times = 104 (112/116) sts. When work measures 53 cm cast off all sts. To make up: block pieces to measurements, cover with a damp cloth and allow to dry. Join shoulder seams, sew sleeves in position, then close sleeve and side seams. With the 3-3.75mm circular needle and jeans pick up around neck edge 104 (104/ 108) sts, purl 1 round, knit 1 round and purl 1 round. Cont with olive, knit 1 round and work 13 rounds Rib Patt, then with burgundy knit another 3 rounds, then cast off all sts knitways.
