Every dictionary has a guide that tells you how it is set up.
Tells symbols and abbreviations used.

Guide Words
Brazen / breath
tells you that the first word on the page is brazen and the last word is breath.

DICTIONARY ENTRY

Excell (ik-sel)> v. celled, -celling. To be

superior to; surpass; outdo. [<Lat. excellere.]

If a word has more than one definition, they will be numbered by common

usage. So the definition for # 1 is more common than the definition for # 6.

THESAURUS

Similar to a dictionary Has a guide for symbols and abbreviations Alphabetical A B C Guide words on each page But..it gives you synonyms and antonyms (sometimes) for the words Sometimes gives you definitions, too.

THESAURUS EXAMPLE
