Language Register

Different magazines use different types of language in order to attract a certain type of reader. For example The Source is a hip-hop magazine and therefore uses informal words like Gangsta . !n the contrary a magazine like "#$ would use a more formal tone% so it appeals to a wider range of people. There are positi&es and negati&es to 'oth of these styles of writing% if a magazine always writes in a classy% &ery formal style it could alienate a specific reader. (n example is this is "#$ may not appeal to a regular reader of The Source or )i'e. This works 'oth ways though as reader of the "#$ may find a hip-hop magazine tedious or not understand their style of writing. * think it is &ery important the the style of language in my magazine is not too formal or too informal. * do ha&e a 'it of a struggle 'ecause my magazine it supposed is focused on a specific culture% therefore they will 'e talking in a specific type of language. * would like to present my magazine as 'eing in-'etween 'oth formal and informal to maximise my potential audience as * could gain audiences from 'oth sides of the formality spectrum
