Minutes from Health and Welfare Council Meeting On May 25, 2012

The group went around and introduced themselves to the rest of the group.

Presentations on Medical Assistance PA Enrollment Assistance Program


-Tracy Roberts explained about the changes to Medical Assistance starting 07/01/12. The clients will have more choices: Coventry Cares, Gateway Health Plan, United Healthcare Community Plan of PA, and UPMC for you. There will be no more Access Plus and they must choose a primary physician. The website is enrollnow.net. Renee Johnstonbaugh is our Outreach Field Specialist/Team Lead. She can be reached at ReneeJohnstonbaugh@maximus.com or (814)287-0119. Minutes: -The group reviewed the minutes. Maria B made a motion to accept the minutes and Don B seconded it.

Correspondence

-Michelle reported there was no correspondence received. Treasurers Report: -Machel reported that the beginning balance as of 03/23/12 was $3004.89 and the ending balance is $3090.90. We received $1755 in memberships this fiscal year and $30

for next fiscal year. Dee M-S made a motion to accept the Treasurers Report and Sharon M seconded it. Committee Reports:

Bylaws

-Debbie G reported that the addition to the bylaws is the Treasurer Elect position. Donna made a motion to accept the addition and Suzanna seconded it.

Executive Committee

-Debbie reported that we need 3 volunteers for the Audit Committee who will do the audit once the 990 is filed. Donna Gority, Robin Beck, and Jean Johnstone volunteered to be on the committee.

Leadership Blair County

-Donna G explained the Leadership Blair County program and the Scholarship through Health and Welfare Council. She asked graduates to tell about their experience. Information can be found on The Blair County Chamber of Commerce website.

Nominating

-The Nominating Committee is Kristine Luciano, Sally Lenz, and Maria Brandt. Maria presented the following slate: President: Mahlon Fiscel Vice President: Mike Hofer Secretary: Michelle Zitsch Treasurer: Machel Drahnak Treasurer Elect: Kristen Luciano SHIP: Donna Gority Nominating Committee: Cathy Crum, Judy Rosser and Susanna Tomlinson -Dee M-S made a motion to accept the slate and Sharon M seconded it. -Mahlon F presented Debbie with a plaque for her service as President.

Marketing

-Sharon M reported that she will take a picture of the new officers to submit to the newspaper.

Membership

-Michelle Z reported that currently there are 68 paid members. Dee M-S talked about how the membership dues are used for grants and scholarships.

Website

-Dee reported that she is keeping the website updated. It is blairhealthandwelfare.org. Healthly Community Partnership: -Donna G reported that they are still waiting for the state to make a decision about SHIP. 2

-The Blair County Needs Assessment (United Way and Human Services) is now Healthy Blair County Coalition which is supported by Nason, Altoona, and Tyrone Hospitals due to the Affordable Care Act. Colleen Heim is the Coalition Director. There will be a website, logo, and surveys.

Updates:

Blair County Human Service Office

-Cathy C reported that their funding will be a Block grant with 7 funding streams starting 07/01/12. They are meeting with the Blair County Commissioners every 2 weeks to work on it.

Blair County Assistance Office

-Robert S gave the number of participants in their various programs and the updates to their computer system.

United Way of Blair County

-Robin B reported on the following: total grant amount was 9% higher than previous year, urban garden planting, Trash to Treasure, Day of Caring, Stuff the Bus, Keystone Stars, Healthy Blair County Coalition, and 211 soft launch. -Debbie G asked the group to go around and give an update from their agency.
