National Catastrophe Insurance Fund supports Thai insurance industry to return to normal mode Mr.

Payungsak Chartsutipol, Chairman of the board, National Catastrophe Insurance Fund said Thai insurance business returns to normal mode with higher competition in the market seen compared to the time of ma or floods in !"## due to the supporti$e roles and policies of the fund. National Catastrophe Insurance Fund offers catastrophe insurance policies with premium rates lower than the market le$el by ".%&#.!%' of the sum insured and facilitate households and business sectors to access to catastrophe insurance policies with appropriate premium which e$entually turning gradually decreases premium offered by insurance firms to policyholders. Insurance business, therefore, is in healthier state, and non&life insurance companies( co$erage capacities increase. Currently, ) firms namely *ioi +angkok Insurance, ,+- Insurance .Thailand/, 0iam City Insurance, 0ompo 1apan Insurance .Thailand/, 0aha Mongkol Insurance, Mitsui 0umitomo Insurance and Muang Thai Insurance offer !"' lower the fund(s premium rate and hold #""' co$erage themsel$es. The combined co$erage of these firms reaches !.2 trillion baht comprising windstorm co$erage of !34 billion baht, earth5uake co$erage of !3% billion baht and flood co$erage of 46 billion baht. More insurance firms are able to e7pand their co$erage capacity and buy less reinsurance co$erage with the fund.
