I designed this after seeing a snowflake by Gianluca Fanchini, and realizing that an origami snowflake does not have to be totally flat. If youre really brave (and stubborn), you can sink the base to thin it.

Illustrated are two different ways to go about drawing the same crease pattern. I prefer the look and challenge of a crease pattern where mountain and valley folds are not differentiated. Some people prefer a CP that shows the orientation of the folds. So here I offer both.
