Power Outages
Black outs and power outages effect our world drastically 50,000 consumers are affected, on average More than 92 blackouts in 4 years Causes damage to electric transmission lines

Types of power outages

Black out- most severe, may last a few minutes to a couple weeks depending on the configuration of the electrical system Brown out- a drop in voltage in an electrical power supply, can cause stuff to not work properly Transient fault- Lasts only a few minutes, but power is retailed after

What causes power outages

Weather Short circuits Earthquakes Overheating Faults at power stations Overloading

Why it is important to prevent power outages

Is critical at sites where the environment and public safety is at risk
Hospitals Sewage treatment plants Mines Housing

What our goal is

To light a house when a power outage occurs Help the community with this common issue Solve a world wide problem

Our Plan
A solar powered generator
Energy efficient Stores power for time of outage Lights your house when needed Costs less than a gas generator

Explanation
An average house uses 10% of the lighting energy, so realistically, it uses around 1100 watts Each of our solar panels uses 1.2 watts to charge the battery, so theoretically our real-life model would cost $485.33

Why our plan is better

A gas generator costs around $2,000- 20,000 You have to refill them when they run out It uses a fossil fuel Ours uses the sun Ours costs $485.33 for lighting

Our Action Plan

To provide this idea to solar companies nearby supporting it Find the right organization to follow through with plan Create the prototype Make final product Sell to customers
