up on board: Choose an example of similes from one of these pages and draw a picture of it in your notes. You can choose any simile that appears on these pages. Page Options: 12, 27, 38, 43, 47 (10 mins) Large group Get a couple answers for these; who can share their simile and picture? Then answer these questions: What does this description help you imagine? What does this simile help you do while you read? - Describe unfamiliar sights, bring us into that period, get a glimpse and sense of images (5 Mins) Still in Lit Device Notes: Now look at your symbols and motifs page at Gatsbys parties. Look at everything/anything you have written there and think about the descriptions in the book. Now create your own similes for Gatsbys party.
