Case 1: All airplanes are equipped with oxygen masks. If the oxygen level in
the airplane suddenly drop; all passengers are asked to inhale oxygen from the
oxygen masks provided.
Case 2: After vigorous exercise a student need to take a walk to bring down
to his normal breathing gradually.
In both cases, the reason is to maintain the oxygen partial pressures in the lung
within the normal range.
[Kes 1: Semua kapal terbang dilengkapkan dengan topeng oksigen. Sekiranya aras oksigen di dalam
kapalterbang menurun dengan tiba-tiba, semua penumpang diminta untuk menyedut oksigen daripada
topeng oksigen yang dibekalkan.
Kes 2: Selepas latihan cergas seseorang pelajar perlu berjalan-jalan untuk menurunkan kadar
penafasan kepada normal secara beransur-ansur
Based on the above information, design an experiment on how you would determine
the oxygen and carbon dioxide contents in inhaled and exhaled air.
You can use the common chemicals and scientific apparatus that can be found in the
laboratory.
