Obedience to Parents
I. Intro. Paul is not speaking about children, but TO children.
In all the roles that there are in society, that of a Child is most often
mentioned. More then, husbands, wives, brothers, sisters, masters
of slaves.
Children are most important to the Lord. Children will receive the
Kingdom of God. (Mark 10:13)
II. Obedience: Ephesians 6: Children, obey your parents.
WHO is to obey?
o Children – those who are dependent.
o Examples of children who obey –
Samuel ‐1 Samuel 1:22, 27,28, 2: 18, 3:1‐10
Obedience to His mom
Obedience to Eli
Obedience to God
Joseph – Genesis 37:2,3, 12‐14.
Obeyed his dad despite his circumstances
Jesus – Luke 2:48‐51
‐ Obeyed his parents despite who He was.
III. WHAT is obedience?
Listening and acting immediately and willingly.

IV. WHY should we obey –
The first commandment with a promise – Ex. 10:12
It is choosing life over death. Dt. 30:15
It is training us to obey God and trust in Him. Matt. 19:14
