BSN 701 Reflection Paper Every 9th of January we celebrate the Feast of the Black Nazarene. In this feast we Filipinos have this so called procession which people have to walk barefoot from the beginning until it already walked back to the church. Walking with the image of Christ is actually hard because you have to maintain the calmness that you have also you have to be patient and considerate. People who do this are actually thanking and asking forgiveness to Christ our Lord. We people have different way of asking forgiveness and thanking God. Some will just pray, some will go to different kind of churches and others celebrate the feasts. We also have different beliefs, although I am a Catholic, we have different insights. You might do this but I will not, because we are not the same. Some people just go to the feast because it is already the tradition they are already forgetting the actual theme why we celebrate the feast. I believe that celebrating this kind of feast you have to be devoted, thankful and is believing in Christ from the heart not just because it is a tradition. Just doing it by tradition, you are wasting your time and energy. You have to be devoted. Capture the meaning why we do this. Also, we should be thinking that being Catholic does not mean you are doing well and is already saved by Christ. Other religion might not be catholic but they themselves do well, then they will be saved. We should grasp the real meaning of being catholic and be devoted to god, and why are we doing this kind of celebration. Also, do good. In that case you may now call yourself a real catholic.
