Salinas Friday January 31st Dear Parents/Guardians, This has been a cold month so we have been cooped up in the classroom but we are still doing so many fun things. Check it out Valentine's Day Celebration: !ecause we have no school on "ebruary #$th, our celebration will be on February 13th. %f you are bringing valentines, please bring one for each student in the class. There is a class list located in your homework folder. &ign up for the 'alentine(s party will be outside the classroom on )onday. %f you do not come into the school, please send me an email or call me if you would like to volunteer or provide a snack. No School: *n February 14th we will have no school because the teachers are having a professional development day. Valentine's Box: Please bring in a box or a bag to decorate for our 'alentine(s celebration +e will decorate them in our class and use them to put all our valentines. riting: *ur non!fiction unit is going so well +e have all picked topics that we will be writing an entire boo" about so that our readers can learn all about our topic +e are so e,cited to share them with you. !e on the look out for our writing celebration sometime ne,t month. #eading: +e have been studying our characters during reading workshop and this month we will be $o%ing to studying non!fiction books. This is really going to help us with our non-fiction writing unit Social Studies& Science: The 'ebbles( silt( and soil unit is so interesting +e have been e,amining rocks very closely. +e would love to see any interesting rocks that you have at home. +e want to start a roc" $useu$ in our classroom so please bring in any )eird or interesting roc"s you have at home *ath: *ur class is really grasping the idea of double digit addition +e will be moving onto double digit subtraction and soon using 3!digit nu$bers Please keep practicing at home so we become e,perts S'elling: *ur new spelling lists are working so well +e took our spelling test on line this week +e are using the website s'ellingcity+co$ .ou can also access you spelling words and practice them with fun games on this website. .our code for this website is/
