Rationale for HTSB Standard 7: Planning for Instruction Artifact: HCPS/Common Core Scavenger Hunt Course: ED !

"#Introduction to Classroom $anagement Another artifact from ED 285: Introduction to Classroom Management that shows my understanding of HTSB Standard 7: Planning for Instruction is the HCP !Common Core ca"enger Hunt# $his was an acti"ity on how to na"igate through the HCP and Common Core data%ase and search for information that I will %e re&uired to use in 'lanning future lessons# I was a%le to get familiari(ed in identifying different 'arts of a teaching standard and its %enchmar)s along with analy(ing the information I am res'onsi%le for when instructing my students on different to'ics across content areas# $his assignment also 're'ared me to use s'ecific standards in order to %uild my conte*tual and moti"ational lesson 'lan# According to the information that I ha"e gained from the hunt+ standards and %enchmar)s are useful guides to determining effecti"e learning outcomes of a student# It is essential that my assessments align with these guidelines so that students can gain effecti"e outcomes o"er mastering "arious s)ills and de"elo'ments# I also learned a%out how the num%er of teaching standards ma)es u' the school &uarter as well as figuring out what 'rior )nowledge and materials would %e needed to teach s'ecific to'ics# $he HCP !Common Core sca"enger hunt aligns with H$ , tandard -: Planning for Instruction %ecause the acti"ity assisted me in understanding content and content standards and how these are organized in the curriculum 7(g). $hese standards are the %ac)%one of any 'lanned lesson and is an im'ortant com'onent of guiding the assessment of s)ills that students need to learn %ased on a school.s gi"en curriculum# In other words+ these standards reflect the common )nowledge in which students need to )now in order to %e successful in the real world# After understanding the %asics of standards and %enchmar)s from the sca"enger hunt+ I ha"e incor'orated many of them into my lesson 'lans and it has hel'ed me measure my students. a%ilities in mastering s)ills and information in different content areas# ,ased on the use of different standards+ I incor'orated "arious resources and engaging strategies that hel's students meet these lesson o%/ecti"es thus demonstrating that I can a''ly evidence- ased instructional strategies! resources! and technological tools to "lan instruction that meets diverse learning needs 7(#)$
