Digipak I have chosen

I have chosen to analyse Rihannas digipak because firstly, I am a fan of her music but also because she is arguably one of the most popular artists of our time and I would like to know what she does with her music in order to draw audiences and fans. She has also transformed in terms of her image and music through out her musical career, so I would also like to analyse how she can still identify with her audiences.

First thing I realise in this Digipak is the lack of text. I think this might have been done because it makes the images of the artist the center of the digipak. She is the focus and audiences cant help but look at her.

Analysis

The colour scheme used in the digipak is red and rose. I really like the use of the colour red because it is a Loud (title of the album). It is bold and connotes passion and love, which could be an insight into the songs on the album. The rose colour gives the digipak a feminine touch, which now we dont really associate with Rihanna. The back cover continues the pale pink theme on the CD. The font of the track list is the same as the one used for the LOUD title, this gives it consistency and continuity.

The inside of the digipak continues the red colour scheme and yet again there is a lack of texts and a large picture of Rihanna that spreads across three sides of the digipak. The image shows a less provocative Rihanna (which we hardly see now) which could be a way for her to be more relatable to a female audience.

This part of the digipak was written personally by Rihanna to explain what the album means to her and who she wrote it for. This is another way for her fans to feel closer and connected to her.
