Abstract Bottle Painting

Instructions:

1. Draw a detailed contour drawing of at least 3 bottles. 2. Look carefully at the bottles and draw the different shapes of the values that you see. a. You will not only draw the light reflections that you see on the outside/surface of the bottle; you will also draw the dark values that you see around the edges and on the inner part of the bottle. It will look sort of puzzle-ish once you have the drawing finished. 3. Once you have all 3 bottles with reflections drawn, you will label each area with L1, L2, M1, M2, or D according to your bottles and where the values are placed (example posted on board). You may only need 4 values, that is up to you and your drawing; I chose to do 5. a. L1 Lightest value/white b. L2 Light value c. M1 Medium value d. M2 Less medium value e. D Darkest value 4. Once you have all areas labeled, you may start to paint. YOU ARE USING A MONOCHROMATIC COLOR SCHEME one hue plus its tints and shades. a. Each bottle is to be a different color; it does not have to be the actual color of the bottle. b. Make sure you have 5 VALUES for every color you are using, and there needs to be a difference in them! Makes it look MUCH more awesome. c. WORK DARK TO LIGHT/ LARGE TO SMALL/BACK TO FRONT. Darker values first, then lighter values. Larger areas first, then more detailed areas last. Paint bottles behind first, then bottles in front (if you have overlapping bottles).
