Leadership and Administration

A. Leadership and Management

i) Composition: The leadership and management teams in Al

Ajbaan School form two groups:

- The Senior Management Team (SMT); comprised of Principal

Mr. Abdul-Rahman Al Menhali, Vice Principal Mr. Hassan
Al Hamadi, Senior Social Worker Mr. Abdul-Rahman Salim
and Senior Teacher Mr. Muhammed Musa.

- The Middle Management Team (MM); comprised of Heads of

Department (see list for a ‘who’s who’).

ii) Roles and Responsibilities: The SMT has the charge of leading
the whole-school towards its ‘vision’; which is to provide a values-
based education that will serve students now and in the future.

The SMT is responsible for deciding whole-school policies, and to

monitor them, in order for the school to function well at all times.

The SMT aims to meet in part or as a whole twice per week, to

discuss the operational and strategic progress of the school. It
involves the MM weekly also in whole-school policy formulation. The
SMT believes in ‘distributive leadership’, and encourages
responsibility amongst all members of staff. Most members of staff
have additional responsibilities (e.g. for finance, data entry,
photography, displays etc).

In the temporary absence of either the Principal or Vice Principal,

the role of managing the school lies with the Senior Social Worker
and / or Senior Teacher.

VALUES EDUCATION FUTURE

The MM (HoDs) meets with the Principal and / or Vice Principal, and
Senior Social Worker every Monday during lesson 3 to discuss
recent developments and plans. This meeting is ‘minuted’.
Subsequent to the meeting, HoDs are encouraged to adapt the
agenda for their own department meetings.

B. Administration

The school currently employs Secretary Mr. Fathmi Sultan,

Administration Assistant Mr. Muhammed Aly, and Watchman Mr.
Muhammed Abbas. Their tasks are varied and include school
communications, resource ordering, photocopying, store management,
maintenance, supervision of the cleaning staff, record keeping, greeting
parents and security.
