Cell State

Caractersticas Characterized by the allocation of a dedicated physical channel to the UE in uplink and downlink directions.

Transies

Cell_DCH

CELL DCH => CELL FACH STATE inactivity during service establishment phase SRBs and PS RT/NRT RBs inactivity after a packet call SRB inactivity and NRT RBs release level throughput SRBs inactivity and MAC-d flow low utilization or low throughput last CS RAB released (Iu-PS connection exists) loss of FP-level synchronization (transport bearer synchronization failure) delay of FP-level frames when UE is in SHO loss of L1 synchronization (radio link failure detected by the UE) L2 signaling error (RLC unrecoverable error) detected in the Cell_DCH state No dedicated physical channel is allocated to the UE. Instead, the RACH and FACH channels are used. Its used for signaling messages transmissions and carrying small amount of user-plane data. In this state, the location of the UE is known at cell level in the RNC.

Cell_FACH

CELL FACH => CELL DCH STATE uplink/downlink data waiting for transmission establishment of a CS service (for example, AMR call setup) use of RACH/FACH is prohibited (load reasons) establishment of a NRT RAB (for example, Interactive call setup) CELL FACH => CELL PCH Because the UE performs continuous reception of FACH in the Cell_FACH state, it should be moved to the Cell_PCH state if there is not any data transmission or signaling activity for a while. inactivity detection in the Cell_FACH state completion of the Cell update/URA update procedure

Cell_PCH

No dedicated physical channel is allocated to the UE. The UE uses discontinuous reception (DRX) for monitoring a paging channel (PCH) through an allocated paging indicator channel (PICH). No uplink activity is possible. No C-RNTI is allocated for the UE.
