A great factor that proves truth to be figurative or metaphorical is that language is entirely arbitrary.

Language is manmade and has many variations in dialects. Humans use language to communicate amongst ourselves and to describe the world. Because words have metaphoric definitions to describe things in the world, words are found to be completely arbitrary. For e ample, the word teacher could be the person that helps you with your physics homewor! but other may describe a teacher as person who has an undergraduate degree, a "H#, and an employment at a school. $he definition of teacher could mean basically anything you want it to because the word, teacher, is sadly arbitrary and does not offer the true meaning as the definition. %ertain languages have words that are feminine or masculine& but how can regular things in nature be feminine or masculine' According to (panish, a boo! )un libro* is masculine and a door )una puerta* is feminine but a boo! or a door does not have female or male +uality. $herefore, words are figurative and should not be ta!en literally. ,f the meanings of words were completely literal, there would be no need for different languages& each meaning would have only one related to that meaning. $he final account, that truth is figurative and not literal, concludes humans don-t live in reality we imagine things. #uring ancient .ree! times, the .ree!s definitely did not !now the truths about reality so they would create mythical stories that would e plain why things were how they were. $he .ree!s also created gods to symboli/e emotions and events& such as Athena for love and Ares for war. $he .ree!s were clearly in no way in touch with the reality of things and they are a prime e ample of how humans create their own truth or realities for ourselves. At the end the day, we are 0ust imagining because we want so badly to create a purpose for ourselves but in reality we have no truths.
