Sydney Correa Evaluation One The term small group can be defined as a heterogeneous collection of individuals.

It is the isolation of individuals from a larger group; a subsection of a section. As I analyze my past relationships with small groups, I find it rather hard to isolate myself from the group and observe myself. There are so many variables that affect a group such as the number of members, range of age, personalities, etc., that ones role and level varies. If I were to generalize the idea of small groups as a whole, my current skill level in working with small groups I believe is inversely proportional to the individuals of the group. To me, it is human nature to rise to the occasion if one individual of the group is lacking an asset. When there is a piece missing from the puzzle, I do my best to fill that piece. Ones group can only be as strong as the weakest member. During my life span, I have had the opportunity to be a part of multiple small groups such as: a classroom of peers, clubs, immediate family, multiple sport teams, and many more. It truly is hard to assess ones own weaknesses and strengths when generalizing the idea of small groups. All small groups are unique. Just as the small groups vary, so do my weaknesses and strengths. Each distinct small group calls for one to take on a different mindset. Each task or objective is different and can only be achieved if one changes their outlook. One of my strengths is realizing what the group must achieve; the ultimate goal. I look at the bigger picture as oppose to having constricted vision. Being a young, nave, know- it- all human, it is only natural that I embody narcissistic and egocentric qualities and the idea that I simply do not have any weaknesses; I suppose that is my weakness! That is the beauty of youth; invincibility.

The ideal communicator must possess a set of skills that revolves around the idea of allocentrism. One must be centered on those around them, as oppose to oneself. To be a successful small group, one must listen to all members and together they must assess the information to produce an effective plot to conqueror their main objective. Small groups may be a collection of heterogeneous individuals, but to be successful they must morph into a small homogenous society.
