124 6-215 1960s Civil Rights Movement

Gurkirt Singh 1/27/14

The Civil Rights Movement was a very historic time that changed many things. This movement was to help African-Americans get the same rights as the white people. This movement was also to stop discrimination. Now I believe that in 2014 is better than 1960. That is because today people are not discriminated against their skin tone. The 1960s Civil Rights Movement was very important. One way is racial discrimination. Racial discrimination was important. This is because black people were treated unfair by the white people. Also, black children had to go to different school then the white children. Black children had to go to different bathrooms and had to go to different stores. The 1960s Civil Rights Movement was to stop discrimination. Dr. King, Rosa Parks, and more people started the movement. Black people were segregated. This movement meant to stop racial discrimination. Also, this movement was to give everybody their rights. Now in 2014 the Civil Rights Movement has impacted on many people. For example people are treated equally. Also, people got their

rights. Lastly people were allowed to go to the same schools, use the same bathrooms, and shop at the same stores as white people. As you can see, the Civil Rights Movement impacted many lives and was a historic moment. So these are the reasons why we celebrate Dr. Kings day on January 20th. The 1960s Civil Rights Movement was a sad time. But thanks to Dr. King everybody is treated equally and everybody has their rights.
