AWM reviews new versions of NX as beta testers, and Klemm, who is considered one of the most competent NX users in Switzerland, takes part in three-day workshops whenever a new beta version becomes available. It was during one of these workshops that Klemm first heard about NX featurebased holemaking. I immediately realized that this could be something important for us, he recalls. At the time, the company was using a second CAM system to program holes. The new functionality would allow them to standardize on NX. A closer look at the NX feature-based holemaking showed how the module simplifies holemaking by automating drilling processes and standardizing tools. The software incorporates proven manufacturing methods into rules that are applied to geometric objects. NX feature-based holemaking recognizes elements in 3D format or cylindrical surfaces, circles and points, even in non-parametric models. As a result, simple and complex drilling elements can be created at the push of a button.
NX CAM covers our processes from beginning to end and never sets a limit on our creativity. Erik Klemm CAM Manager AWM Mold Tech AG
