What makes a church a true New Testament church? We read the account of the early church in the book of Acts and in chapter 2 we see this description of the beginnings: they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. (Acts 2:42, NKJV) Bible study, fellowship, the Lords Supper, and prayers were evident in the life of the early church.
they continued steadfastly in the apostles doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. Acts 2:42
As the account of the church continues in Acts we see the church at Antioch modeling direct mission involvement. In Acts 13:2 -3 we read As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, "Now separate to Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them." Then, having fasted and prayed, and laid hands on them, they sent them away. For many, many years First Baptist Church, Blanchard, has been involved in sending them out. Through contributions to the Cooperative Program thousands of international and North American missionaries have shared the gospel with a needy world. Through our Faith Promise Offering we support missions in our community, nation and world. Over the years mission trips and direct mission support have been a mainstay at First Baptist Blanchard. So, lets ask ourselves whats next? In terms of direct mission support, this year brings opportunities to help build churches in Romania and Belize. We will continue to support the church plant in Aurora, Colorado. Locally, our mission efforts through The Orchard, Cross Brand Cowboy Church, Lydia sewing ministry, Project Linus, Chainsaw Ministry, Soup for Seniors, Pacesetters, Soles for Souls and others will continue. But here is something not to be overlooked: are we ready for the other great and mighty things that God has planned? What if God is raising someone up within our church to go out and share the gospel as full-time missionaries? What if God wants First Baptist Blanchard to step out in faith and plant a church where none exists? What if He brings our way opportunities to act in faith to bring Him glory. My advice, which I take from Gods Word, is CHURCH, BE READY!!! Keep the faith. Blessings,
MUSIC NOTES
The Sanctuary Choir
Thanks to everyone who came to support the Voices of Praise at Price Harris Night of Praise last month. It was such a blessing and an honor to be asked to be a part of the evenings music. The choir did a wonderful job and I know that God was glorified through the music. The sanctuary choir is sadly becoming less and less visible in some of todays churches as more and more move away from choir programs toward ensembles and praise teams. No matter the style, though, I believe a sanctuary choir can be a vital part of corporate worship and I am so thankful for our choir members and their willingness to give their time for rehearsal each week. I am also encouraged by the fact that we have a number of our senior high and college students who enjoy singing with us old folks. We would love to have you start 2014 as a new (or returning) member of the Voices of Praise. We are working on new music right now so its the perfect time to join. Not sure? Give us a try. Join us at 7:30pm this Wednesday night and see what its all about.

What is sin? How does God feel about sin? Who sins? What happens when we sin? Will God forgive us when we sin? These are just a few of the questions we will be answering in Sunday school this month as we study the exile of Judah.

What does it mean to be saved? For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23 First Baptist Church Blanchard

That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Romans 10:9-10 Sin separates us from God. God offers forgiveness through belief in the life, death and resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ. Accepting Gods offer of salvation means we are saved from an eternity separated from God. Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. John 14:6
