S028-2014 Cultural Diversity Week 15 to 23 March 2014

Main Points All schools are encouraged to participate in Cultural Diversity Week. There are many ways that teachers can get their students involved in activities, excursions and events to explore themes around cultural diversity. To assist with school planning, a 2014 Teachers Resource Kit has been produced by the Victorian Multicultural Commission. Primary schools are also invited to participate in the Cultural Diversity Week Primary School Art Competition. The theme of the competition is Celebrating Cultural Diversity' and students are invited to create artwork that reflects the theme. There are prizes on offer for winners in each category and their schools. All finalists will receive a certificate and their artwork will be displayed in the Atrium at Federation Square.

Actions Required Alert teachers to the availability of the Resource Kit and the Primary Art Competition. Encourage teacher and student participation in Cultural Diversity Week activities.

Critical Dates Cultural Diversity week will take place from 15 23 March 2014. Entries for the Primary School Art Competition close at 5.00pm Monday, 3 March 2014.
