    Background: Since much of the work is interdisciplinary we encourage applications from students with a variety of technical backgrounds including physics, EE, CS. Our founders were mathematics, physics and CS majors from Caltech, Harvard and MIT. Degrees: We’re looking for Masters/Ph.D. students and advanced undergraduates with EE/CS/physics/math backgrounds An empirical orientation and an experimental background is a plus. Some exposure to concepts in E&M and radio propagation, wireless communications, distributed algorithms and IP networking is highly desirable. Research at Tropos is fairly closely coupled to product development and we’re looking for candidates with a hands-on orientation towards research that can be quickly translated into new product engineering.
