Learnings from the S&OP: The progress made in S&OP is comparatively low as compare to the projected progress made 5 years ago. The gaps between the potential performance in Sales and Operational Planning verses perceived S&OP and Current S&OP is relatively lower. The participation of companies from virtually every industry from retail to heavy industrial, shows universal interest in and applicability of S&OP. The respondent exhibit that the senior executive involvement is required to the key S&OP success and lead the S&OP Process. The technology level in S&OP is relatively weak as it still relies majorly on spreadsheets rather than using other applications like available work bench types of technology which are more advanced. There are respondents who have developed a regular monthly S&OP cycle which is clearly a best practice.
