The case basically starts with a brief introduction about John and how he and his friends have

just entered a working position in one of the huge engineering companies. The only difference that differentiates John from the rest of his friends is the part that he did not finish his total graduation degree and left two years short. The case shows us how John faced barley any issue in his first dew years at work where he was approximately equal to his friends regarding the salary and bonuses given to them. As John advanced and grew in the company the corporation recognized the need for engineering degree in order to be promoted to a higher position. After this huge announcement, where all of John close friends have now been promoted due to their degrees, john has not advanced any further and stayed in the same position. John started to exhibit signs of dissatisfaction and stress which lead to poor work and, due to his friends loyalty none of them felt comfortable pushing the issue further. On the other hand, John friends where now much ahead of him and became manager and bought bigger houses and cars which lead to the threat of his financial security. This organization was structured as a functional organization until this point where the organization shifted to a project team environment. This meant that John and his friend should work together to achieve the company's goals. John wanted more, power, and control which lead to him becoming ego. As times passed, he lost part of his self-esteem and this issue started to distract the team and affect their work. So, the company came up with five potential options to help him and help the team. 1- Do nothing: and keep treating him the same way and burying the problem but this would not solve the problem. 2- Bypass company policy and promote John: this policy might be good but for a short time only where his ego might grow again plus, the higher management might reject. 3- Talk to John to go back to collage: this was extremely and best decision but least likely to work. 4- Relocate John to different department: this meant that he will no longer work with his friends and be ego but, it had been tried before and failed. 5- Is to terminate him: which is a wrong decision.
